About me

My name is Lauren Brown and I’m currently a 21 year old junior from the University of Central Florida. I’m a major in Event Management with a minor in Sports Business Management. I grew up and lived in Longwood Florida for my entire life. I have the most loving and supportive family including my parents, my sister Rebecca, and my two brothers Nick and Kasper (sweetest family dog of 13 years).

Kasper was rescued from death row at Animal Control. Winks, my one-eyed doggie nephew, was recently adopted by my sister and brother in law from a local rescue group. “Saving one dog will not change the world, but surely for that one dog the world will change forever.” I have a passion for the beauty and life of animals.

I have always been rather active joining a swim team, a soccer team, and playing volleyball for 7 years on club and high school teams. I rowed for UCF’s NCAA Women’s Novice Team and completed my first triathlon in Summer 2011. I also have played the French horn for 7 years in Wind Ensemble and Marching Band. Currently I’m a proud brother of Alpha Kappa Psi Business Fraternity at UCF where I have served as Intramural Chair and Secretary, participate in intramural volleyball, and work for the College of Business Dean’s Office as a Student Assistant.

I strive to be an optimistic individual, have a great passion for adventure, I’m open to new things, love the beauty of the outdoors, and try to learn from every experience. “Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined”. -Henry David Thoreau

I have been looking forward to Bike & build for quite some time and I’m extremely excited for this adventure! This great opportunity before me will enable me to see the country from a different viewpoint, give back by spending time helping others, and to seek growth within myself physically, mentally, and emotionally. "One of the secrets of life is that all that is really worth the doing is what we do for others."  At the completion of Bike & Build I hope to have an invaluable appreciation for different cultures, the simply beauty of nature, and a bigger desire for community service.

The University of Central Florida UCFToday has me featured in an article as well! Check it out! :) https://today.ucf.edu/cross-country-trip-to-build-promote-affordable-housing/
